  • International travel is an exciting experience, especially if it is first time to you. Different cultures offer many new places to visit and things to try. But, you need to be aware of the potential problems in traveling and it is important to consider all of the following details before you travel. Knowing them in advance, your   trip wii be more enjoyable.
  • After you decide to travel abroad, you have to consider  insurance. Travel insurance is useful to protect you from last-minute changes in your plans such as flight cancellations. As International travel costs are more than domestic ones so it would be a benefit to have this type of insurance in case anything happened. Aside from flight coverage, it is good for other things as well. An important point to remember is medical insurance. If you have a medical insurance plan, find out in advance does it covers you for international travel. Some plans do not cover expenses in foreign countries. A travel insurance policy will cover these unforeseen medical costs that will arise while you are traveling. 
  • Check with health professionals for information on recommended vaccinations or other precautions and find out about overseas laws on travelling with medicines.
  • At first the Travelers should familiarize themselves with their destinations, both to get the most enjoyment out of the visit and to avoid known dangers.   
  • Book a flight with suitable timings by that,  you can either catch your sleep on the flight or as soon as you get in to your destination.
  • When making flight reservation, remember to request for special meals if you have any food restrictions.
  • For a smooth ride on a plane, choose the seats located near the wings as if the plane hits an air pocket, this is where you will get the least amount of bumps.
  • Make your hotel reservations in advance, especially if you are visiting a place in peak season. You don’t want to be caught without a roof over your head!
  • Negotiating room tariffs over the phone? Call the hotel twice to confirm the rates. Note down the name of the person you have talked to and request a written/faxed confirmation. This way you can be sure that you will not be wrongly billed by the hotel.
  • Keep track of the weather at your destination and be prepared, especially if you are going to area with fully different weather conditions.And made arrangements suitable for that
  • Make copies of your passport details, insurance policy, travellers cheques, visas and credit card numbers. Carry one copy in a separate place to the originals and leave a copy with someone at home. Also include medical prescriptions, and your medical insurance information.
  • Make sure your passport has at least six months validity and carry additional copies of your passport photo with you in case you need a replacement passport while overseas.
  • There should be a good Planning While selecting the items to pack. Travelers should also be aware of restrictions on items that may be taken overseas.
  • Once you have selected your suitcase, take a like-size cardboard piece cut to size. Place your hard items such as shoes, toiletries etc at the bottom. Put the cardboard over it and then pack your clothes in a flat manner. This way, you can easily take out clothes as well as the belongings below by simply lifting the cardboard divider. and don’t forget to take your camera
  • Instead of scattering items all over the suitcase, put each category together in zipper bags for easy accessibility and neat packing. Similarly put all your important documents or medications in zip-lock bags and place them on top of a carry-on/ hand baggage. 
  • To facilitate your ease going through security, make sure you have your boarding pass and passport convenient at all times so you can take them out when necessary. This way you don’t have to stop and search through your bags every time someone asks to see your identification.
  • If you are prone to motion sickness, take an anti sickness pill before the flight
  • Carrying large amount of money and travelers cheques could be inconvenient as well as extremely risky. Instead it is much safer to use the ATM card. It is  easier to carry and ATM machines are found all over the world, even in the small cities. 
  • When traveling to another country, it’s good to know the currency conversion rate between the dollar and the currency of where you are going. Even if you travel with credit cards, make sure that they will be honored as payment.
  • Leave a copy of your travel itinerary with someone at home and keep in regular contact with friends and relatives while overseas
  • Now a days airlines follow very strict security procedures. So make sure you reach the airport for check in well in advance. Its best to check with the airline regarding how much in advance you should be at the airport
  • Do not accept any package or food from a stranger
  • The travelers who are traveling abroad should be beware of scams. Many times, thieves pounce on unsuspecting passengers. In order to keep yourself and your belongings safe, keep your bags close at all times. Check bags that you will not need during your flight. The most important thing you will need is your wallet with your passport and boarding pass. Try to avoid  unnecessary items with you.
  • To prevent the swelling of feet  to happen on long flights, walk in the aisle at intervals and try not to take off your shoes.
  • Do not accept any package or food from a stranger
  • If your baggage does not arrive on the same flight as you, fill out a Property Irregularity Report (PIR), with a description of the baggage, a list of contents and address to which it should be forwarded. If your baggage does not arrive at all, place a claim with the airline within 21 days.
  • When you check into your hotel, ask the reception to give you a card with the hotel's name address and telephone number.
  • At the end when you travel; Make sure to complete the necessary preparations before leaving home so that you don’t have to worry about these details on your vacation. By that you can visit  as many sights as possible and you can make your trip more enjoyable one.
